Saturday, June 21: I’ve written extensively about the dangers of eating foods made from genetically modified (GMO) crops. You may not be aware of this, but a revolution is taking place in agribusiness, and it’s planting our nation’s breadbasket with genetically modified wheat, corn, and soybeans, which, in my book, is not kosher. When scientists add a gene to a food that wasn’t originally part of that food, that changes the DNA character of the crop.

Saturday, June 7: That’s the gist of a new Reuters/Zogby poll showing that people would rather let their car sit in the driveway than cut down on eating their favorite foods. When I see a news story say “favorite foods,” I’m thinking fried chicken, double-deluxe cheeseburgers, mountains of fries, and ice cream extravaganzas. It seems like very few are interested in cutting back there, so it’s no wonder why we’re not at our Perfect Weight.

Monday, June 2: Everyone has become aware of the environmental challenges lying ahead of us because of global warming. While there’s scientific disagreement behind the root causes of global warming—and I’m not taking sides on this contentious issue—the fact remains that climate changes are happening right before our eyes. I haven’t forgotten how hot the summer of 2005 was—the hottest year on record—or the buffeting our home took when Hurricane Wilma roared through South Florida. We are all responsible for climate change when we turn on the air conditioning in our homes, drive our cars to work, school, and errands, take an airline flight, and consume goods and services.
