Saturday, April 5: I got up at 3 a.m. Friday morning to make a crack-of-dawn flight home to Florida because I knew this would be the only chance I could see the family over a nine-day period. Unfortunately, I had to turn around today and fly to Syracuse for an event tomorrow morning at the New York State Fairgrounds. Good thing I’m on USAir this week with all the troubles American Airlines is having with their wire inspections.

How come all I could think about was the “Superman” movie when I was at Niagara Falls yesterday? |

Thursday, April 4: Something else happened yesterday when we were in Buffalo, New York: the Perfect Weight America Tour made a side trip to Niagara Falls. With my camera crew in tow, we set up on the Canadian side, which has the best views of the massive falls. The Niagara Falls is the most powerful waterfall in North America, and after hearing the roar of six million cubic feet of water tumble over the crest line, I can believe it.

Wednesday, April 3: My trip through upstate New York got off to an interesting start yesterday in Kingston, New York. We had one of our smaller crowds show up at the Mother House Storehouse, which is a family-run business with four stores in the Hudson Valley, of around 50 people. Afterward, the one of the managers approached me with a bag of groceries—one of those “lovely parting gifts” for having come by. Inside the paper sack were a dozen farm-fresh eggs, a gallon of raw Jersey milk, sauerkraut and pickles, and a box of dill sauerkraut flaxseed crackers, which sounds yucky, but actually was very good.

You’re going to love this homeopathic remedy we tried out on Joshua after he did a “rug burn” number on his stomach. |

Sunday, March 30: My three-old-son Joshua and I had quite a weekend. I got in super late on Friday night from the Midwest, where I had been speaking in Illinois and Missouri. Saturday was a warm one in South Florida, so I went swimming in the backyard pool with Joshua. I wouldn’t call him a swimmer yet, and he’s not much of a daredevil around the pool. In fact, he fell into the deep end last year and was traumatized by the experience, so we haven’t had to worry about him playing in that end of the pool.

I’m afraid that Easter Sunday didn’t exactly have me singing “Hallelujah.” |

Monday, March 24: I liked my swing through “Heartland” territory last week, although it was cut short by the Easter weekend. After visiting Wichita, Kansas, the Perfect Weight Tour swung over to Independence, Missouri—President Harry Truman’s hometown—where Nature’s Pantry, a local health food store, hosted me in a community hall. There had to be over 500 there. And the next night in Des Moines, Iowa, was another good one—more than 200.

Wednesday, March 19: At the end of this month, chain restaurants in New York City will be required to display the number of calories for each meal on their menus—barring a last-minute court order. What this means, in reality, is that McDonald’s, Burger King, and even Starbucks must provide nutritional information on menu boards, printed menus, posters, tray liners, and food wrappers.
