Jordan's Progress Report January 29

Today is another travel day, which is becoming one of the redundant phrases in this blog. I’m flying cross-country from Florida to Phoenix today, so I’m going to use this occasion to finish up some thoughts about my weekend in Oklahoma City.

The first family road trip is in the books, and I’m calling it a triumph. The four of us—myself, my wife, Nicki, and our children, Joshua and Alexis, flew from Oklahoma City back to West Palm Beach today after a successful speaking event at Victory Christian Church over the weekend.

Did you see or read the news last week regarding the Food and Drug Administration’s declaration that meat and milk from cloned animals and their offspring are as safe to eat as natural versions? The only good news in the 968-page report was that the FDA asked meat producers to keep cloned cattle, pigs, and goats out of the food supply during a transition period of unspecified length. Hey, FDA, here’s some unsolicited advice: How about making that transition period a hundred years?

I just realized that I failed to close the loop on the NFL playoff games last Sunday. For me, it was a case of the glass being half-full and half-empty. In case you didn’t read my blog from Monday, January 14, I was cheering for the New England Patriots and the Green Bay Packers to reach Super Bowl LXII, which will be played in Phoenix on Sunday, February 3. Unless you haven’t been near a TV or a computer the last few days, the Patriots kept the San Diego Chargers from advancing while the Packers were sent packing following an overtime loss to the New York Giants.

Well, my voice survived just fine after speaking nine times over the weekend at the Champions Centre church in Tacoma. That’s the most speaking I’ve ever done in one weekend, so I was worried, but everything went well. We had 300 come out for the Perfect Weight Seminar on Friday, and 228 on Saturday. The folks at Champions Centre church told me that 2,650 turned out during the four church services that I spoke at.

What a great few days in gray, overcast, and cold Seattle, where the damp 36-degree weather has chilled these Florida bones. On Wednesday, I did an in-store event at Marlene’s Market & Deli in Tacoma. Around 250 people crammed into every nook and cranny of the store, and everywhere I looked—including the deli section—I saw people standing and listening attentively. I signed close to 150 books afterward.

We’re beginning Week 3 of the Perfect Weight America Tour in Seattle and Tacoma, Washington. I flew out this morning after spending Monday in a series of meetings at the Garden of Life headquarters in West Palm Beach. Today is one of those 21-hour days where you wake up at five o’clock, go to the airport, fly across the country, and finish at 1 a.m. Eastern time.

Since I was in Atlanta yesterday, I didn’t get to watch the NFL playoff games, though I was able to catch some of the two playoff games on Saturday.

After flying home on Friday, I made a quick, 12-hour trip to Atlanta today where I spoke at Church of the Apostles, an evangelical, Anglican congregation founded by Dr. Michael Youssef, who has an amazing life story. Dr. Youssef was born nearly sixty years ago in Egypt, but his mother was in poor health when she became pregnant with Michael.

Flying home after the first week on the road was great, and I was also coming off my first quarter Perfect Cleanse. I’m telling you that my batteries are recharged, and the Perfect Cleanse went very well. Today I flew cross-country again, this time to Fresno since I was speaking at Organic Pastures Dairy Company located in the heart of the California’s San Joaquin Valley.
