Hi! How is everyone?

Welcome Cherri! So glad to have you join us!

Things have been a bit rough lately. Physically I am doing ok but have been really down lately and then today we received some horrible news. We have some very good friends back in the States and they were helping to raise their two grandchildren. The lady often kept our little girl along with her granddaughter, and now they had a new grandbaby as well. Well, I recieved news this morning that the lady and two grandchildren had been killed. I was devastated to hear that of course but had very little details till later and was horrified to find that this friend of mine supposedly shot the two grandchildren and then shot herself. We are just beyond devastated. Both my husband and I have cried most of the day. It's one thing when you hear stories like this on the news but another thing entirely when it is people you are close to. I cannot believe she could do this. I'm waiting for more news. My parents were on a trip in CA and got an early flight back home to be with the family and my mom said she will let me know more once they are home and have more news.

I had a dr. appointment today and all is fine. She said 2 more weeks and I am "okayed" to deliver safely. I'm really hoping the baby will come the last week of Feb. But they never come when it's convenient. Meanwhile, three of my kids are sick, which has made life a little difficult lately. I feel with all the struggles with the pregnancy, I haven't done my best with feeding my children well or making sure they take their vitamins and stuff. My 3-year old has tonsilitis again, my oldest has some weird intestinal bacterial infection, and my 6-year old has a bad cold which is no big deal but I guess from blowing her nose and all she rubbed it raw and now the nostril is badly infected. They usually don't get sick very much but lately it's been one thing after another.

Well, heading off for now. Hopefully it won't be long now before I'm on here to announce the birth of the baby! This has been one insanely long pregnancy! Talk to you all later.

Susan, my prayers are with you and the family and friends in this terrible tragedy. I am so sorry to hear of this and it breaks my heart to think of anyone being so depressed and desperate as to do this type of thing to children and themselves. I will also pray for your children and the new addition; for the children's health, your health, the baby's health, and for an early but safe delivery.

I am in the process of trying to buy a home and I don't think I like the whole thing. There is one thing after another and it seems everyone is out for themselves in the long run. Fortunately, my realtor is from my church and she seems to really know her stuff! She's working for us from every angle to get things resolved quickly and as smoothly as they can go when buying a home. I will NEVER do this again. We will retire and then retire in this home! I would reccommend saving from the day you are born to just buy a house outright and never have to mortgage. We have done this with everything else so that we never have car payments or other monthly payments other than rent and utilities. That's enough.

The diet is progressing. I don't know where to, but it's headed somewhere! I love working out at the church but since I am a very active member I always run into someone I know that wants to catch up on the latest so they start walking with me, very slowly so that I end up slowing down. I have a hard time telling them to go away so I can sweat! Maybe I should join a gym where nobody knows me! Also, my husband is not doing his usual routine at home as he is all discombobbled over the house thing, too, and that means my meals are not prepared so I have to think about it and that is really tough for me any more! He says he will get back on track, I just hope it's not after we finally get our house and move in!

Take care! M

Hi!

Chelle, thank you for the prayers. I am still waiting for more info on the situation and that is the hardest part - waiting. All the info I'm getting now is off the news online and of course that isn't going to give me a clear picture of what is going on. I haven't heard from my parents yet which is so frustrating so I don't even know if they made it back to SC yet or what. I actually tried calling them, which I never do as it is so expensive from here, but no one answered. So I continue to wait. I start crying every time I look at my own little girl who was so close to the little girl murdered. I always thought they looked alike and as this lady often kept my daughter, the two girls had picked up a lot of similar habits, facial expressions, etc. I tried explaining to my daughter that Kylie is in heaven but she is just too little to understand. My other children are asking a lot of questions, but at this point, all we are telling them is that they died, not giving any details as to how.

Chelle, I know that you must be under a lot of stress with the house situation and you are doing a great job of keeping on top of your diet and exercise. When we built our house several years ago, I cannot even begin to describe the stress, so I can understand a little.

Yesterday my eating was not too good. We went out for lunch as we were in town for the dr.s appts. and I had a roast beef sandwich and salad so that wasn't too bad other than the white roll it was on. However, for dinner, the stress of the day and some other circumstances that evening finally got to me and I ended up not eating dinner at all and then eating a scoop of ice cream left over from my husband's birthday. That is very unlike me. Oh well, today will be better. The ship arrived this week and my husband picked up some fresh produce last night so at least I have stuff to make salad today.

Well, will talk to you all later. Have a good day!

Hello Everyone!

Well my eating has been pretty good until I went to the super bowl party last night. I think I ate pretty healthy at the party considering but I just ate too much. Sometimes my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Yesterday we were hit with a big snow storm. We got between 1-2 feet of snow over night. I was snowed in the whole day. The plow truck didn't make it to my street until after 7pm that night. As much as I don't like the cold, the snow sure is pretty outside.

Since it is almost mid Feb, that means that in a little over a month I can start planting in my garden. Onions, peas, garlic, potatoes and a few others can be planted after St Patrick's Day since they do well in the cold weather. However if there is still a foot of snow outside I may wait.

So here is that avocado pudding recipe if you are interested.
3 avocados
1/3 c cocoa powder or to taste
1/3 c maple syrup or agave--- I used agave
1-2 tsp. vanilla

Mix everything together in a food processor. I used my vitamix. Best if serve chilled. You can make this with 4-6 dates that have been soaked instead of the syrup/agave. You can also use carob powder instead of cocoa powder.

If you try it, I hope you like it. I think that if you wanted to add a banana in it that it would taste good to. It is a little thicker than the "normal" pudding most are used to and I find this one to be a little richer. But I like it.

If anybody has any other good recipes, feel free to share. I am always looking for something yummy especially that my kids would like.

Hi! How is everyone doing? Still waiting on this baby here. Dr. said anytime from now on it can come so I'm sure hoping it will be soon.

Things are going ok for us. My hubby has been busy, busy, busy so I've seen very little of him lately but we were able to go out for dinner Fri night for an early Valentine's date. I haven't been out in about two months so it was nice, even though I was still miserably uncomfortable.

My parents made it back to SC ok for the funeral and all. Was so sad, mom said. She is having a hard time with it all as she was very good friends with the lady. Just can't figure out why this happened.

Well, just stopping in to say hi and see how everyone is. Have a good Valentine's Day and good week!

Doing well here. I am trying something new this evening. Instead of the normal moisturizer I always use on my face I am trying just plain old coconut oil. I have been reading more on healthy fats and raw foods so I thought I would give it a try. I struggle with adult cystic acne and I have had a flare up so I thought I would try something new.

My husband started his new job today. This is one job that will definitely keep him busy. It is a great opportunity and I sure hope he likes it. Thank you to anyone who may have kept us in your prayers for finding a job.

Gosh Susan. It feels just like a few weeks ago you told us you were pregnant! I am sure you feel differently. I hop that everything goes well and that the baby is healthy. I will still keep you in my prayers until the baby comes. Good luck!

Okay, been out of touch a bit but that's because I've been so busy! We put a bid on a beautiful home and it was accepted. Our inspector went through last week and all looks good. Now the appraiser will go through but we don't expect any issues there. Last stop is the surveyor (this is required every time the home is sold) to survey and give you the property lines. We close on March 22. Very exciting. I would like to close earlier but we are on a lease at our apartment so can't close any earlier than that. Even so, we will be paying rent and mortgage both for one month! Two would be out of the question. It's a beautiful home and we all look forward to getting in and getting settled. My office will have a housewarming party just prior to our move so that we know what we may still need upon moving in.

Susan, glad your parents made it home safely, but sorry for the pain they are experiencing back home. I will continue to pray for healing for all those affected by this tragedy. It's so difficult to have such diverse things happening in one's life. There's the pain of the deaths and the process of those deaths, and at the same time, the anticipation of new life. Seeing as this is the 22nd of February, there is a good chance that new life is in your arms now. I pray for a safe and easy delivery and for your entire family at this time.

Thanks for the recipe, Misty. I will certainly try it soon. Eating at this time is a bit of a challenge. Stress makes for a poor diet buddy! Even if it's a good stress. My husband is also feeling this and we did go out to eat at a little place called Qdoba. It's one of my absolute favorite places to eat but since we really don't ever eat out, we could tell the difference in how we felt from the food. And we ate what has to be considered as heathy as possible when eating out. We get these things called naked burritos which just means there is no totilla, so it's more like a salad of sorts. There is lime rice, pinto beans, lettuce, pico de gallo, grilled chicken, and whatever other toppings you want. We pass on the sour cream but sometimes add avocado (gotta have that!). So, it's not too bad but I can tell there are excitotoxins in there somewhere! We always have just water, though! Elizabeth loves to eat out and she really goes at it. She is the healthiest eater I know. It's the way Dad raised her and she doesn't feel she is 'missing' anything as some kids try to tell her. She's tried things and doesn't like them or the way they make her feel. I am pretty confident that she will stick with a mostly healthy diet when she grows up. If not, she'll soon come back to it for sure.

Hi, everyone! Been gone for awhile, but I have good reason! Long story but will try to make it short. My heart problem that I have had with this pregnancy kept getting worse and finally, last Tuesday I had a really bad attack with it while I was at the dr.'s office for my checkup. They nearly admitted me then but kept me in the ER for awhile till it calmed down, then let me go home. But the next day, I had problems again, my heart rate would go very, very high and I would start to pass out and couldn't breathe. So they admitted me and after tons of tests and all, they decided it was best to go ahead and take the baby c-section as the medicine they needed to put me on was making her heart rate drop and also my blood pressure go too low. SO, Kaylinn Alora was born on Thurs, Feb. 25th at 9:25 AM, nearly a month before her actualy due date. She is perfectly healthy though and was 7 lbs., 6 oz. I can't imagine what she would have weighed if we'd have waited till her due date! Anyway, I stayed in the hospital till Mon. Had a few problems still with my heart and had to go on oxygen some but after they've readjusted my heart medicine several times, I was ok to go home. I also had to have a blood transfusion which I must say was quite the nightmare. I have weak, small veins, and they just could not get the blood to go in my veins. They blew out all the veins in my hands and arms. Was sooo painful and then my hands and arms swelled huge for days. The swelling is finally down a good bit but they are so bruised and sore. The dr. is hoping the heart problem will clear up as I recover from pregnancy/delivery and I will be able to go off the medicine next week. So far, I don't feel any problem with it anymore but don't know what will happen after I go off the medicine. Anyway, thank you for praying for me and all of this. God has really blessed and I am so thankful for this little angel. If you want to see pictures of her, you can go to our family blog at www.kihlengfamily.blogspot.com and I have a few pictures up there. I'm doing so much better now though still in a lot of pain, but thoroughly enjoying my little girl. Looking forward to getting back to feeling normal!

Hope that you all are doing ok. Hopefully now I can be back on here regularly. Will talk to you later.

Wow Susan, I'm glad you and the baby are doing okay, what a scary ordeal! That's awesome that her weight was so good a month early. Take care and I'll check out your blog to see pictures.

I'm 31 weeks now and doing good. Very tired, but looking forward to holding my sweet girl. I've been eating a lot better lately and have been doing lots of research, including watching Food Inc. I think that was the kick in the butt I needed to get back on track!

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi, Heather! Glad that things are going well with your pregnancy. Almost to the end! I pray your delivery will go well.

We are doing fine today though I have had a bit more pain today and had some dizziness that had me a little concerned. I think I am really enemic right now. I wish I had ordered some of the GOL raw iron in advance. I lost a lot of blood with the surgery and since the blood transfusion wasn't too successful (they gave up after blowing all my veins out), that's probably the reason for my weak feeling and dizziness. I am moving around a lot easier today though so I am on the road to recovery at least. I think it's going to be a loooong time though before I'm back to normal exercise.

Well, heading off for now. Should try to get something to eat while the baby is sleeping. Will talk to you later.

I want to get off all prescription medications. I have been able to get off one diabetic medication and need to get off the other one and my blood pressure medication. I just need more motivation and support and a permanent lifestyle change. So here I am. I hope to get to you all better as we loose and get healthy together.

Hi, Kelly and welcome! So glad to have you join us! Congrats on the weight loss you've experienced so far! Wow, that is great! Getting off your medications is a great goal and I know you'll get the support and motivation you need from the group here.

We are doing fine. We had our dr. checkups yesterday and all looks good except that Kaylinn had lost some weight since her birth. So they want to check her again next week. I was surprised considering how much she seems to eat! She seems very content though and has LOTS of dirty diapers so I'm not too worried. Meanwhile, my dr. said my ECG and all looks good but she still wants me on the heart medication for two more weeks.

Well, hope everyone is doing ok. Will talk to you all later.

Thanks for the welcome Susan. My post from yesterday vanished into cyberspace. It didn't post.

I am glad your doctors appointments went well. My babies lost a little weight after they were born too. I think that it is pretty common. Sounds like your doctor is on the ball.

I went to a new doctor today. I moved to Tennessee last May and just went to the same doctor that my family here was going to see. He is a good doctor but I wanted a doctor who is more into natural stuff. I found one. I really like her. She is changing my meds because the ones I am on cause weight gain. I have a binder with a food log, supplement and medication log, exercise log, glucose level log and measurements. This keeps me on track. She really liked it and is willing to help me loose the rest of the weight and help me get off the meds. She spent about an hour with me.

I did pretty good with my food today. I made the coconut soup. It was good. I also made the fish with the mushroom stuff tomatoes. I really liked that. I took my morning suppliments but forgot the lunch time ones.

Hope you all have a nice evening.

Hi! Having a good day here. The baby was up a little in the night fussing so I'm a little more tired today. That was the first time she's done that since we've been home. Hope it doesn't become habit! I was getting spoiled with how well she was sleeping at night.

We're thinking about going to the beach in a little bit. I'll probably just sit under the beach umbrella with the baby the whole time but I think it would be good for the kids to get out and have some fun. They've been cooped up in the house so much lately with my recovery and all and not really doing anything special in so long. Some friends of ours are going and asked if we want to meet them there. Just getting out in the fresh air would probably do me a world of good!

Time to start setting some new goals for myself and get back on track with eating and all. I have been eating a lot of healthy food, but since I had the baby I have also sneaked in some chocolate here and there. I didn't really crave junk food with the pregnancy (my biggest craving was for cucumbers!) but since I had her I have really craved chocolate. So I need to clean the house of all chocolate and get back to normal! Hmmm, does that mean I just eat it all in one day? Just kidding! Hoping I can start a new workout rotation on either April 12 or 19. Planning to do Slim in 6 as that is always a great "fat blaster" and gets me back on the road to pre-pregnancy shape. I've done it after each of my last 3 pregnancies.

Kelly, it sounds like you found a great doctor. And sounds like you are really organized with your planning and record keeping. That helps so much! I always keep a "health" journal and record my supplements, exercise, etc. and it really keeps me motivated.

Well, hope everyone is having a great week. Will talk to you all later.

We had tornado warnings here last night but woke up this morning to a beautiful day.  Had to do some running around this morning.  I started on my new blood pressure medication today.  It regulates blood pressure and hormones.  I have to get my MIC injection tomorrow.  Not much else going on around here.

Hi Everyone! Sorry about being away for so long but we have been really busy. My husband got a job so we are trying to get used to a new schedule, my broke her ankle so I have been doing her shopping and errands etc for her and then our computer broke. But don't worry I am still here.

Susan- congrats on a healthy baby girl. Great news. I am glad to see you want to jump back on track with slim 6. Take it easy though.

Chelle- I hope you love having a home. I couldn't imagine life without my own backyard. I love having a garden and am so excited about starting it up in the next few weeks.

Heather- I hope everything is going well for you. Take good care of yourself. I also want to watch that movie Food Inc. It is constantly on loan at my library but one day I will get it I am sure.

Kelly- WELCOME!!!! Enjoy your journey to health. I have. I am constantly getting books from the library and trying to learn more all the time.

I have been doing pretty good with my eating habits. Cheating a little here and there but in the long run doing great. I have fallen a little off the exercise routine. I hurt my shoulder thinking I could do pull ups without the aid of a chair. Stupid I know but I really thought I could do it. Well, I was actually able to do 2 but I definitely won't try that again for a long time. So I am back to using bands which I don't like as much but I want to make sure my shoulder is completely healed before using the chair. I am thinking it may take a few months too.

The weather has gotten a little warmer here. All of our snow is melted so we have been going on walks. My husband is going to do a 75 mile bike trip this summer so we have been checking out bikes at bike stores. I am thinking that training with him would be fun. Well take care and I am sure to talk to you all soon.

Hi Misty

I was able to find the PWA FITexercise dvd online yesterday so ordered it. I am excited to be able to watch it on my big flat screen TV. It is hard to follow along on the computer plus it is just clips.

My son is at boot camp and he got to call today. My daughter-in-law and little grandson are staying here while he is gone. He is doing well he said. He has passed everything to date.

I did good on my eating and my blood sugar has been really good. I just keep on one day at a time. I lost 2 lbs when I was at the doctor getting my MIC injection. Do any of you use the MIC injections for weight loss?

Good morning! Hi, Misty, have missed you! Sounds like you've had your hands full lately. Sorry to hear that you injured your shoulder - take it easy!

Chelle, how's the house? Have you all moved in yet or was that more toward the end of hte month you were going to move? I know moving can be stressful so take care of yourself!

Kelly, I'm not sure I know what the MIC injections are. Glad that your blood sugar has been good. And congrats on the 2 lbs. loss! Every little bit adds up over time! You're doing great!

I am sooooo dying to get back to working out but know I can't yet - ok, it still hurts just to walk around the house, but I'm getting there. My coach says I should just start with walking after the dr. clears me for exercise and work up gradually to Slim in 6. I know she is right but I miss the old active me! Me and Kaylinn have dr. checkups again today. Dr. wants to check me to see how I'm doing with the heart medication and I also want to have her check my hands, which are STILL swollen and sore from the blown veins from the blood transfusion. And Kaylinn has to have her weight checked again. Hopefully she has gained some by now.

Well, hope that everyone is having a great week, or weekend for you all actually. But it's Monday here already and a beautiful day. Will talk to you all later.

Hi ladies,

Susan here is the information about the injections.  How did your doctors appointments go?

MIC Injections are Methionine, Inositol, Cholin and B-12.

1. Methionine - an antioxidant amino acid that neutralises free radicals. It aids in breaking down fat, removing heavy metals from the body, and helps with digestion. It is one of the important amino acids that increases energy and lean muscle mass.

2. Inositol - a vitamin that is vital for metabolism of fat and cholesterol. It also prevents hardening of the arteries, it is also been shown to help in the treatment of depression and anxiety.

3. Choline - plays a major role in cardiovascular health, in addition to minimizing excess fat in the liver through its fat and cholesterol metabolic properties. It aids in hormone production.

4.Vitamin B12 - regulates the formation of red blood cells and helps in the utilization of iron, preventing anemia. It is an important component of the body system because it is required for proper digestion, absorbtion and synthesis of foods, protein synthesis, and the metabloism of carbohydrates and fats.

I get these every week.  I am using this program along with suppliments and vitamins.

Kelly- The MIC injections seem interesting. I have never heard of them before but from your discription they sound like they would be helpful for many things.

Susan- I hope the baby is gaining enough weight and that your body gets back to normal soon. I can relate on wanting to get your body back to yourself. I breastfed my kids so I felt like it took forever to get all of me back for just me. That is one reason why I am unsure about having more kids.

The weather has really kicked into the spring mode here. The flowers are starting to poke through the ground too. I skipped my exercise today to clean my house which caused me to break out into a sweat from doing it so fast so I guess that could count. We have been so busy and my husband has gone from meeting after meeting that things just haven't gotten done so I took my time to take care of that. It does feel great to have a clean and tidy house.
