Hi, I wanted to add to the tap vs. bottled post, but it was locked (whatever that means). Platic bottles are filling our landfills. Yes recycling is better than dumping, but many, unfortuately most, states do not have a refund law to encourage proper recycling. Not only is bottled water an environmental nightmare, but the plastics leach nasty chemicals to varying degrees depending on age of bottle, it it gets squeezed, exposed to sun or heat, etc...  Also, many of the bottled water is just someone else's tap water! We are blessed to have our our well water, so no chlorine or chloramine, but we do have naturally occuring sulfer I and do not like the taste. For years we bought 7.5 gallon water bottles, that did get refilled, but the leaching was still as issue. FINALLY, we have the perfect resolution to the problem. We called Culligan Water Systems and they completely tested our water to know what type of filter would best serve our needs. We now have filtered tap water at our sink and we fill SIGG bottles everyday. SIGG bottles are metal bottles that are virtually indestructable and entire leach proof. We drink our own 100% pure water everywhere we go.

You made good point about plastics leaching nasty chemicals. . .
I have been drinking alkaline water for the last few months. I purchase it from Natur-Tyme, in Syracuse, NY. It has a pH of 8.0 - 9.0. It is "evAMOR," alkaline artesian water.
I am able to record the pH of my urine using litmus paper. I have already seen a slight change.
My friend LeeAnne and her husband sell an Alkaline Water Ionizer that I discussed purchasing from them.

I use Kleen Kanteen water bottles. They are stainless steel bottles and I just love them. The tops are interchangeable and they come in many sizes. They even have sippy cups.
