Hello all! I've been on this site for one week only. My main concern about this program is the prices of the food. How can we afford to eat healthy and feed our gas tanks ? Besides hunting our own meat ( thank life I live in Michigan where the deer come to our back door), we have to figure ways of making our own food. If I was living in Puerto Rico ( where I'm from) I would be squeezing my own coconut oil. Hum, maybe I shoud be checking at the my local Hispanic stores for coconut oil, we may have that already for half the prize of the health food store.
Anyway, I made my first batch of home made, totally organic, sugar free yogurt.
First: put oven in warm setting. Once is warm, turn off.
Then I did this:
In a pot with lid, Boiled half gallon organic milk mixed with 2 cups powdered milk to 180 degrees.
Pour a cup of sugar ( stevia, splenda, Z Sweet, etc.). Mixed.
filled sink with cold water/ice. submerged bottom of pot in ice water until temp went down to 110. Added a cup of store organic vanilla yogurt.
Added more vanilla.
Mixed well. Covered. Wrapped towel around it. put in oven overnight.
this morning I put yogurt in containers. I mashed some strawberries, some peaches, some banana. Poured fruit in containers, poured yogurt on top. Put in fridge. SUCCESS!!!!!
Mine came out a little tart. I added more Z Sweet to make it sweeter.
Total calories: between 120 to 150.
