Hello. I am new here, actaully will START my program on June 9th. One of the things that I was wondering about - is if anyone has found a good substitute for morning coffee??  I've tried the herbal teas - they just don't give me the boost that I need in the mornings.

> Any suggestions out there?

Thanks,

JJ

Im not sure if you can drink tea on the plan either but if so oolong tea is good! it keeps you going without the jitters and by far is better than coffee i think.

Hello All, This is just my opinion but coffee in moderation with no sugar is probably fine...Marie

Hi,
In Jordan's book on page 123 it reads, "Approved Beverages Herbal teas, preferably organic-unsweetened or with a small amount of honey or stevia
Organic coffee-buy whole beans, freeze them and grind them yourself when desired; flavor with organic cream and a small amount of honey". That is for phase 1.
in Phase 2 you can an xylitol and Han Guo in small quantities, page 125.
"Since tea leaves naturally contain caffeine, I believe it's healthiest for us to consume tea in its most natural form" Jordan says on page 94. (Organic of course, also oolong.)
Jordan recommends" green tea because of less processing and higher levels of antioxidants than black tea".
Regarding coffee he says on page 95 "decaffeinated coffee is highly processed and removes some of the antioxidant benefits contained in the beans."
And in moderation, one cup per day or every other day.
Hope this helps as I am a coffee/tea lover myeself :)

I am new today!  This site looks like it's just what I need for support and accountability.  About coffee ... I stopped except for 2 years, except for an occasional watered down Starbucks, due to a kidney issue.  Discovered a healthier coffee drink more than a year ago now, with 1% caffiene.  This stuff tastes smoother to me than Starbucks, I've been sleeping better than in my entire life even when drinking it just before bedtime.  And it detoxes too...

I drink Organic Gano Cafe' Coffee-it has the equivilent amount of caffiene that decaf has, but it has not been through the decaf process. So I get my coffee 'treat' without the bad side affects. I love coffee!

Hi Everyone, I am also new to this site.  I love coffee also and treat myself to a good cup of spanish coffee.  A year ago I had to stop using coffee all together because I had symptoms of gallstones.  I changed from coffee to a product called Cafix, which can be found at Health Food stores.  Cafix is caffeine free and comes in many forms.  It contains roasted barley, rye, chicory and beet roots.  It may sound gross to some, but when I ran out of coffee, my husband a coffee lover also tried some and enjoyed it.  I always keep a bottle in my pantry incase I get on a coffee kick.  Let me know if anyone else has tried it.

Dandelion root tea tastes just like coffee and is really good for you.
