Hi! Did you guys think I dropped off the face of the earth? I was thinking I did! I've been so busy with traveling and having some internet trouble but I'm here!

I have to say, I have not done very well on this trip with the eating or the exercise! With all the traveling we've done in the last two months I had done really well, but this trip I have struggled. I'm a little frustrated with myself. I have been eating a lot of vegetables and getting my protein, but have nibbled on unhealthy snacks here and there that have really added up! And I haven't exercised in nearly a week. Where we are staying is just too small with all the kids in here too. we get back home tomorrow and hopefully I can get back on track cuz right now I feel like a lazy bum! (Also, I'm absolutely freezing to death and that doesn't help - I'm used to the tropics!!!). My game plan is to start the cleanse when we get back, but wait, that will put me on the cleanse through Thanksgiving. I'm gonna have to think on this. Maybe I'll start the cleanse the day after thanksgiving.

Welcome to our Newbies!!!! Sorry I wasn't around to greet you! Busy Momma (what's your real name, by the way?), I hear you on the expense of it all!!! We are missionaries and so our income is limited as well. But I ended up with some serious health problems a time back and finally we decided to just go ahead and try the supplements and see if they helped - and what a difference! So I do recommend the supplements if at all possible, if only at least the multis (the Vitamin Codes are a bit cheaper). but if that is still not an option, please make sure you are extra careful about how you eat and especially make sure you are getting enough water (more than enough is better!).

I do have to say a big CONGRATS to those of you who are sticking with the program as closely as you can! That's great! Especially with the holidays around the corner!

Dolores, congratulationson the 6 lb. weight loss! That's a huge accomplishment for such a short time! Wow! Now I'm really motivated to do the cleanse!

Won't it be great to go into the New Year with a huge jumpstart on our weightloss and health goals?!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Morning Everyone! I was wondering what happened to Susan. Glad to hear that you're headed back home for a while. It is very hard to stick to any eating plan when you are away from home and on the road. You're pretty much obligated to eat whatever may be available or go hungry. I'm not good at hungry.... I know what you mean about being cold too. I live in MI and it has already snowed here. I don't mind the snow but usually we don't get that until just before Christmas and most of the time it is a while after Christmas, so this is really early even for the north!
I'm doing pretty good I guess, I've lost a couple more pounds. I'm having trouble eating "on time" especially the snacks. I'm pretty sure that's why I've lost again this quickly. I have managed not to eat after 7pm which is a BIG challenge and I know that helps a lot.

I don't have to work today and I just found a recipe in another forum for Jordan's Blueberry muffins so I think I might give those a try. I LOVE muffins and was missing them, so I hope these are tasty. The recipe or the post didn't say how to count them though... does anyone know? I'm doing too good to mess up now I would rather not have the muffins if they will set me back.

Thanksgiving will be a challenge but I think I may save my cheat meals for that time. Instead of using them over the weekend as I planned I think I will save them and then choose the best I can on that day. Hope everyone else well.

Didn't have the ingredients for the Blueberry muffins, then checked in the book and found out we're not supposed to have any grain products (flour) so I guess I won't make the muffins just yet. I don't know if I will last until Phase 3 for the muffins though. We'll see.

Hi! It's kinda been a crazy day for me. Getting back from our trip last night, then having to help at my kid's school with the Christmas Mall today, tons of laundry and getting things ready for our next trip (which is tomorrow), and to top it all off, getting some kind of a stomach bug that sent me running to the bathroom all day! SO, I haven't exercised but kinda had an involuntary "fast" today as I couldn't really eat today till this evening.

Dolores, I'll have to find the recipe for those muffins! But yeah, they're probably more of a Phase 3 of 4 sorta thing.

I got my Perfect Cleanse in the mail yesterday but think I'll hold off till the day after Thanksgiving. That should be a better timing for me without setting myself up for failure over a holiday!

Ok, heading off to bed. Hope you all have a great weekend!

Well I cheated a little last night and had a slice of pizza but I did exercise like crazy this past weekend. I now fit into my jeans I wore before I got pregnant. I was so excited plus I can now see curves or ripples starting to form in my stomach. I am so happy. I have been working so hard and it is finally paying off. I do think Thanksgiving will be hard. I just love pumpkin pie but I am mentally telling myself that I will only eat one piece and forget the whipped topping. Plus going to 2 families makes it even more difficult. I will have to do my best and poliltely tell my relatives that I don't need any take home desserts. Challenging I must say!!! Good luck to everyone!

Hello everyone.  Hope all is going well.  Just was wondering how some of you are planning to eat on Thanksgiving day? Not sure what our plans are.  I think maybe going to our daughters home.  Not sure yet.

Does anyone yake fucothin?  How many do you take with each meal?  I started with 2 each meal and went to 3 and now I am oyt again.  They are so expensive that I don't think I can keep taking 3 each time.  I have been lax about my supplements lately but I will asmit that I did better staying on track and felt better when I took them all reguarly.

Hope everyone has a great holiday...

oK, I'm feeling really irritated right now! I just typed a LOOOOONg post about Thanksgiving and then hit the wrong button and deleted it!!!!!

Ok, I'm gonna try this again!

Thanksgiving meal: If you are eating at someone else's house, it is a little more difficult BUT if you are cooking, then here are some suggestions:
Turkey: well, turkey is good for you! Yay! Just roast it, don't fry it!
Stuffing: how important really is the stuffing? I've found most of my family doesn't really like it anyway so we have pretty much cut it from our thanksgiving menu. If you want to make it, try using whole wheat bread crumbs or sprouted bread
mashed potatoes: we've cut that from the menu as my family is rice eaters (we soak brown rice in 1tblsp. plain yogurt and water before cooking it)
sweet potatoes: do they have to be candied? I LOVE baked sweet potatoes but sometimes I mash them like mashed potoatoes and add a little butter
green bean cassarole: FORGET THE CANNED STUFF! use fresh or frozen organic green beans and make your own cream of mushroom soup with milk or even plain yogurt. Cut the fried onion topping and sprinkle with a little cheese instead
cranberry sauce: hmm, I love cranberry sauce but no one else in my family does. I do splurge a little with this on Thanksgiving but you could try making your own to cut the sugar a little.
dinner rolls: make them whole wheat or cut them completley from the menu as we usually do (cuz do we really need all these carbs?)
relish tray: I usually have big plates of fresh veggies like carrots and broccali and also stuff like olives and pickles. I make a dip using plain Greek yogurt and Italian seasoning
Dessert: ahhhh, glorious dessert. It finally hit me one year, do we REALLY have to have one of every kind of dessert in existance at one meal?!!! we've gone to just having one or two like apple pie or crisp and pumpkin pie (which I don't really like anyway) or pumpkin cake. I have a great pumpkin cake recipe that is not too terribly unhealthy. I will post it later this week. I usually enjoy one slice of some sort of dessert on Thanksgiving cuz hey, it CAN be a cheat day!!!!
Oh, and on our menu we usually ahve a large green salad and some steamed corn.
Hopefully I've given you some ideas to help plan out your meal!

FucoThin: Connie, I have used the FucoThin and I must say that I have lost a good bit of weight while using it. But it is expensive. I have recently started using a different brand of fucoxanthin tha tis much cheaper but so far I haven't seen any weight loss. If nothing by the end of the bottle I jsut started, then I will switch back.

Ok, well I've gotta be going. I'm so glad to be home and staying home for about 2 weeks! Yay!

Talk to you all later!

Another thought on Thanksgiving: Is it really about the food?

Several years ago we were invited to some friend's for Thanksgiving. They fixed litterally every food you could think of. Turkey AND ham, several different kidns of candied sweet potatoes, corn, candied carrots, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green bean cassaroles, mac n cheese cassaroles, dinner rolls, and on and on and on, as well as about 8 different desserts including the traditional as well as tiramisu and chocolate cake! It was insane. They all ate themselves silly! Our family ate in moderation (my kids were not used that kind of rich food and hardly ate anything) and were perfectly satisfied. They everyone went to the living room. We kept suggesting games and stuff but they all stretched out in recliners and proceeded to moan about how sick they were but how worth it it was! I was thinking, "This is tthe stupidest day I've ever spent!" Never again! The following year they invited us again and we politely declined. I fixed my first completely healthy Thanksgiving dinner and we had a great time focusing on what was reallly important: What we were Thankful for!

Susan, thanks for the Thanksgiving ideas. I, like you, don't eat the rolls or stuffing. We do go to our family's house so we have to eat what they have but we kind of pick and choose. I am much better at this than my husband but he has gotten better since we have had kids.

I have been so busy that my great exercise routine was broken 2 days ago. I have set aside time tonight so that I can at least get it in before tomorrow because I have a funny feeling I won't fit it in tomorrow. That means Friday is a must.

Danslady, I am planning on doing a cleanse in January as well. We can do it together if you would like. I am starting soon after New Years to clean out my system from the holidays plus that is when my next cleanse is scheduled. I have never eaten the chicken soup for the cleanse so I am a little nervous about it since it is supposed to thicker than normal chicken soup. I have done the fruit cleanse and I survived so it wasn't too bad.

I was wondering how all of you handle gatherings you have in your own home. My husband's family is addicted to pop (soda) and so far we have had it at family get togethers at my house however I don't like having left overs because it just sits in my basement and I don't think it sets a good example for my kids who are 3 and 2 years old. We try to eat very healthy and my husband so far has handled the switch fairly well since we have been married. I prefer people not to bring desserts and the like to my house but I really haven't said anything yet. Should I just let it go even though it bothers me or should I set a standard and become one of those inlaws that doesn't let their kids be kids and they moan about coming over my house. They have already commented on the side dishes that I bring to their parties and usually tell me that I don't need to bring anything. For example I brought steamed corn once and seasoned it so no one ate it. For Turkey day tomorrow I am bringing a cranberry dish but since I actually make it they are also having the canned jelly cranberries and I already know that maybe 2 or 3 people will try it. Suggestions would br great. I hope this doesn't sound like I am venting but thanks for listening anyways.

Hi, everyone! I have been having internet issues and could not get on lately. Seems to be ok now.

Ok, confession time for me! I did not do too well wtih eating the last few days! Or exercise! We did do a 5K Run on Thanksgiving day but other than that not much else. Our whole family did the run and we had a blast! The kids actually ran almost the whole way (well, not the 2 in strollers). There were about 5,000 people entered in the Run so it was pretyt crowded but we really had a good time. Tomorrow I hope to get back on track with eating and working out.

Misty, I totally understand where you're coming from. I don't know what I advice I could give really other than do what you think you should. When it's your own home, I feel you should be able to serve what you like. I used to cater to everyone else but as we really began to change our eating habits and talk to others about it my husband and I decided that we would start serving to guests exatly what we would fix. We often have people over on Sundays when we are back on our island in Pohnpei and we fix what we do for our family and most people comment on how good the healthy food is and ask for recipes. Hee, hee, I'm not one to be talking right now though - I didn't do too well these past few days! I think it was the combination of being in the States for a holiday for hte first time in 8 years and being with family we're never with and also just the fact that we're taking a brief break from a very stressful traveling schedule. But no excuse! I'm making a clean fresh start this week!

Ok, I have to be going. Will talk to you all later.

Thanks Susan for the response. Well I did ok for Thanksgiving. I did only have one piece of dessert (pumpkin pie my favorite) but I did not exercise all weekend. I was sick on Sun but the days before I should have done something. Well I will have to start over this week. I really do miss exercising. Talk to you all later.

Hello everyone. I'm sorry that I've missed so many days. Thanksgiving was a challange but I did okay. I think the few days after with the leftovers was maybe even harder than Thanksgiving Day. On that day I was so busy... then when it came time to sit down I ate a little of whatever I wanted, but you know what??? I just wasn't all that hungry. Don't get me wrong I could have done better but I used Thanksgiving as a cheat day and just knowing that made it easier.

We have a BIG family (about 36 in all) and we try to all get together for the holidays. My parents have a big house and we all cook and carry to their house. This year I instructed everyone to bring whatever they would like to share, but to be prepared to take back home any and all leftovers of whatever dish they brought. That really cut down on me coming home with more leftovers than I could possibly use, and helped with the temptation of eating something just so it wouldn't go to waste.

I did gain about 1 and half pounds over that weekend, but on Monday I decided to do a mini-cleanse and ate fruit only for Monday and Tuesday and feel so much better this morning. So I'm getting back on track and feel good about it.

Those blueberry muffins are calling my name though! I may have to try them. Talk to you all soon.

Hi! Ok, I have been so frustrated! For 2 days I could not get into this site at all! Did anyone else have this problem? It was like it no longer existed! I would put in the address and it would go to an entirely different site! I finally emailed customer service at Jordan's BHI website (cuz I didn't know what else to do!) and now today I can get back in! Yay! I hope that never happens again!
Well, over the weekend I had to do some "re-evaluating" and really recommit myself! So Monday was a perfect day in the eating and exercise department. Yesterday was great other than I ended up having a cookie with my daughter when we went shopping at the mall! Oops! Today will be perfect again! I'm determined.

Misty and Delores, I'm glad you had great Thanksgivings! I had a pretty good Thanksgiving but I think our family is just really homesick right now so that kinda put a damper on things, but we are trying to make the best of things (and count down the days till we're back on our little island!).

Have a great day, everyone! Talk to you later!

Hello All!  I just spent 5 minutes typing and lost everything.  I don't know what I did but will try again.

Thanksgiving was a good day.  We went to our daughters and I had a sppon {just one spoon} of everything and a piece of pumpkin pie.  It was oh so good.  The rest of the weekend went downhill from there for me.  I spent most of it with my legs up and a  pillow under my knee.  Went to the er on Monday and after xrays found I have arthritis in my knee and would probably be needing a knee replacement.  Dr. said my knee was pretty shot.  I could not even move my leg the swelling and pain was so bad.  Went to see my regular dr.  and he is going to try some other things first.  Thank You for that.  He also said losing weight would help.  Problem is I already eat healthy but am limited with exercise.  In 05 I had surgery on my left foot where drs. had to straighten my foot, lift my arch and did a fusion on th joints.  I have 3 screws and a staple in there.  Last year I got a staph infection in same foot and now the dr. has put me on disability.  He does not want me walking more then 10 or 20 minutes at a time, ride cart when shopping and so on.  Now with my knee gone in my right leg I am afraid to do a lot.  I think after the holidays I am going to try to find someone somewhere that can help with exercis so I don't hurt what is alredy hurting.  Until then I will just keep eating properly and walking when I can.  It is really hard to keep going with the dieting sometimes but for the most part we eat healthy.  Thanks to all of you for listening.  I guess I just needed to unload.  Hope all of you have a great day............

Connie, I'm so sorry you hurt. My husband has bad knees and I know what you must be going through. He walks a lot with his job and some days he just barely makes it in the door after work. I thought I'd let you know that I had heard of exercises that you can do while sitting down! I don't rememeber the name exactly but I think you could do an internet search and find it if you search "chair exercises". I think these are geared at Seniors and those not able to stand, but whatever works Right! I'm a good listener so anytime you wish to vent you just go right ahead. We all need that sometimes. Good Luck!

Connie! I am so so so sorry about all of this! Please, oh please, don't do anything to put more strain on your knees! Have you looked into something like physical therapy? I know physical therapists have exercises that are supposed to strengthen injured knees and could probalby give you a lot of alternatives. And what Dolores suggested sounds good too - looking for exercises you can do sitting down! Yay for you on doing so well on Thanksgiving! I wish I could say the same! (Actually Thanksgiving meal wasn't so bad for me but all the snack the two days after!!!!!) I sure hope that the pain lessens for you and goes completely away and you can get this figured out. I know it's such a downer to be so motivated and then have an injury set you back! You are in my prayers!

Hope everyone is having a great day! My youngest child is a little bit sick - we haven't had much sickness in awhile in our house and I've been so thrilled but a bug finally got us! I think I'm comign down with it too so drinking lots and lots of water and taking ecchinacea and hoping to drown this thing before it gets started! Not going to workout today because of this but have done great all week so far! Will pick up tomorrow with the workouts. Today I haven't eaten much at all since I kinda feel lousy. I'm a little frustrated with myself cuz I have gained back some of my weight I lost! My goal is to get it back down before Christmas! Well will talk to you all later

Hello Girls!  I'm Stacey and I just started PWA this week.  I really need encouragement.  Have any of you found an easy way for food prep/cooking?  My lifestyle doesn't allow me so much time in the kitchen everyday.  It would be easier for me to fix a couple different things over the weekend and eat the same stuff all week.   I'd love to join your group...Thank you.
