Hi ,

I just started the plan.  I was doing the Schwartzbein principle- and I am finding that I need more protein w/ my meals and snacks.  I am not sure I can eat just fruit alone- Is that ok??  And I have been getting alot of headaches

Any thoughts???

Kim

Make sure you're drinking A LOT of water and getting enough sleep- that usually always cures headaches for me:)
you might be getting headaches also since you just started and you may not be eating foods that your body is used to- but once your body becomes adjusted it they will go away. I read in a book (Fast Food Nation) that a lot flavorings and additives in food now days are actually engineered to make you addicted to them -(i know scary!) so it's probably good you're getting away from them and it will be best for your health in the long run. Also, I'm sure if you eat some protein from the 'extraordinary' list you should be fine:) Good luck!

Hi Kim,

When starting a cleanse your changing the way you eat can cause headaches. When I do a detox cleanse the first few days of the cleanse I feel miserable especially when I did my first one.

Its normal to feel this way since your body is working on ridding itself of toxins.

Now if you have changed to way you were eating from eating sugars and processed foods and carbs then your body is not being very nice to you because your body is craving those foods and its going through withdrawals so let it finish its course your body will thank you for it in the long run and you will start to feel so much better.

So let the cleanse run it course and in the end you will be fine.

I've been doing the perfect cleanse for a week now and I'm having cold symptems and feeling nausious, is this partly from the cleanse do you think? I see you mentioned feeling awful for a few days. I'm just curious if you had any nausea?

You will have many reactions when you do a cleanse. Your body is going through a change and sometimes when our diets change and we cleanse our bodies start to feel run down and sometimes flu or cold like. Its just a way of the body ridding itself of toxins and also its going through withdrawals so nausea could be one of the ways he body it reacting to it. Stay hydrated with clean fresh spring water at all times that should help a little with the nausea. If you have some mint leaves try sucking on them or a sugar free mint to settle the tum tum. And yes to answer your question did get a bit nauseated when I did one of my 1st cleanses and had flu like symptoms.

Hi Kim,

I am sorry I was reading the 2nd post and then read yours in full. If you were a big carb eater or eating the wrong carbs then you started taking them away you will end up with some very bad headaches. Your going through withdrawals. Let it ride Do some meditation and a nice calming organic tea will help too.

Thanks Lori!

I'm just amazed how doing something healthy can make one feel so crappy at first! The nausea is gone, but I'm still feeling tired. I've increased my water in-take though so maybe I'll start feeling better soon. Hope so anyway!

Yes its amazing how something good like a detox and cleanse can make you feel so terribly but its the body working it out of the system and those nasty little toxins are fighting back. Its like anything you do for you that is bad and you stop it. The addiction stays with you for awhile and its hard to fight it off but your body will thank you for it. I cheated with my 1st cleanse I did years ago. When I started getting the headaches into the 3rd day I took some tylenol. But that was a fasting cleanse and I was would juice once a day to get my nutrients in me. So if the headaches are truly unbearable then I would take something for them because afer 1-2 days they should go away.

Yes it is amazing how much your body resists good nutritious stuff at first, but it's so used to the fast food and processed food we have pumped in. I find that if I eat anything like that now, it upsets my stomach terribly, so I just abstain. Valerie is right too about food additives. The real demon one I had to deal with was Dunkin Donuts coffee..........man did I get terrible headaches from stopping that product! Cleansing gets easier over time, so be patient. Your body will love you for it!!!!! Good luck!

Hi. I just read your headache comment. I used to be a severe migraine sufferer. Now with meds I get an occaisional headache. However, one thing that always triggers it is dieting....probably why I've packed on ten pounds in the last 2 years!!! Well, I have a suggestion for you that seems to be working for me on the first part of PWA. First ...get lots of salt in your diet. I put a little extra on my meals at the beginning an am now weaned off it. Also..salsa has a pretty high salt content....use it on everything. Another tip is to break down and have some caffiene. I know it's not on the plan...but it sure beats a migraine.

My headache cure for a mild to moderate headache is strong organic coffee, legumes with salsa, add a litle yougurt ans tobasco, and 2 aspirin.    Hope this helps.  I know that  the stronger tryptin drugs really kill me.
