Parting with your comfort foods in your pantry can be a daunting, of not upsetting, task.  For my ‘Kitchen Rehab’, I started by tossing all of my processed snacks and boxed/quick meal items such as Mac & Cheese and other processed items.  Remember to replace these pantry items with fresh, local and/or organic options.

This is always a first step for me. I actually will put all the carbohydrate foods together and out of the kitchen. All tempting chocolate or pastry sweets etc. do not even exist in the house. I was told if your going to cheat eat it all at one time and get it done. do not buy a box of donuts or cookies and always treat it like a reward, savoir and enjoy make it special and get organic and whole grain.

I have watched the first video on the PWA TV and Jordan has answerd and inspired me more and I can not wait to view the rest.

To Jennifer Loyed , I would like to reply to a few topics that you had Question to but the topics are locked. so I will post one here   hope this helps

What I understand about coffee....Buy organic coffee beans (samsclub) grind them yourself right before you brew it and then consume it within 20 minutes. The antioxidants are volatile oils and will dissipate (vaporize). To balance the tannins that make you acidic you are to use milk. Jordan has suggested organic whole cream and a touch of honey to sweeten or stevia. I personally do not like stevia and prefer lo han it does not have as much of a bitter aftertaste but is hard to find. A little is the best not to over sweeten. As far as dairy for the perfect cleanse I am using soy creamer and limiting myself to one cup in the morning. I will also make sure I am getting a wholefood calcium supplement like the calcium from Garden Of Life and ionic minerals to help alkalinize my system.

So soy is not an option for my creamer in my organic coffee, I actually sent my husband to the store to get my old international delight creamer. When he came back he unloaded the groceries, I hear oops! He had gotten sugar free. The signs were there and I used whole organic milk I had purchased before my cleanse. I am a big cofee drinker and decided to dig in the cuboards for some herbal tea. It was great I have several differnt kinds (chai is best) and drank it throughout the day, helping to increase the water intake. Plus I added nothing not creamer or honey. But I still will enjoy that cup of coffee in the mornings. Bekka

I'm a tea drinker myself and have found sometimes honey seems to sweet or leaves an after taste.  What I have found that works well is Agave Nectar.  It's from cactus.  It's prettty close to sugar tasting, but is low on the glycemic index, and leaves no aftertaste. I agree, Stevia is not the best, but if you make fresh limeade with it, it works very well, tastes great, and is a pleasant change.

I'm a tea drinker, too, and have reccently joined PWAtwo days ago .  Since January 8 I have worked to revamp my pantry and my family's eating habits.  We're making good progress, even the kids!  In fact the 4 y.o and 18 y.o and husband are all on board.  Pray for my 15 y.o daughter PLEASE.

The first thing to go was white stuff - all of it in one day!  Next was sweeteners of any kind.  I found we're all addicted, so decided to go sugar free fast.  We've been sweetening with fruit (applesauce, dried fruits).  4 y.o now happily chooses applesauce on her Ezekiel 4:9 french toast!  It's working - but in hot drinks the kids and I have just gone sugar-free.  Hubby gets his fix at work.

Getting organic meat is expensive for a family our size, so I'm planning to use a lot of frozen wild fish, then I can spend a little more for the organic chicken.  Still expensive - we'll just have to eat more beans

So far have lost 1 pound since starting PWA.  Am not cleansing but upped water, cleaned the pantry, eat modified PWA menu (budget for large family), and am riding my stationary bike.  I feel excited about the changes.

I am lucky enough to have my own beehive for honey but we are almost out until spring, bummer. I'll have to buy some. I use liquid stevia sometimes but I have a sweet tooth and use 10 drops in my cup of tea instead of 3 or 4 like the bottle says. i need to work on that.

I also weaned the pantry of its unhealthy products. I am debating whether or not to give them to a needy friend or toss them in the trash. Has anyone else given up partially hydrogenated oils? i am finding it particulary hard because it is in everything!

My family is struggling with tossing the unhealthy foods, they live off of snack cakes, pork rinds (so gross), the list could go on and on. I suggested (okay made) them give up unhelathy foods for Lent this year. The 4yo is doing well and behaving better, he asks "is this healthy?" The 13yo could care less what he eats as long as he gets some, he has taken to snacking on nuts and popcorn. My 18yo is a diffrent story though, she brought home a tube of cookies dough and ate half of it in fron tof us. I tol dher next time she brought unhelathy stuff home it was going in the trash. She'll probably just eat it in the car on the way home next time. My 6month old doesn't have a choice since she only gets homemade baby food. My husband is the toughest, he craves those gross pork things, and was constantly eating junk food. He is doing okay but I don't know what he's eating at work. I know yesterday he got a fish sandwhich froma fast food place, ugh.

If your family isn't on board, take your time and only cook the good stuff. they'll eat eventually, it may take a week but they'll get huingry sometime.

Even beforePWA, we ate pretty healthy.  It drives my husband crazy because he enjoys food to no end and he grew up on all the snacks etc.  I have learned a few things since reading the book and now my husband is really going crazy because I don't even let anything bad in the house.  I know he cheats at work but I also know he is trying.  It may take awhile but I am sure he will get there.  I told him that now that we have kids, he needs to set a good example.  I must say that he does love the fact that when we go somewhere, our kids are good healthy eaters.  We get lots of compliments.
