Hello All,
I've just committed to begin this program starting tomorrow....I am going to need some help. I am a 48 year old married father of three with diabetes and hypertension. Until last November I was on a diabetes injection drug known as byetta. I developed severe and ongoing back pain and after ruling everything else out I just quit the byetta. Within only a couple of days all of my nausea and back pain were gone! When I spoke to my old physician (prior to a recent move) he told me that I was sure to gain at least 20 pounds and that it would be better for me to stick with the drug. (I was one of the first 19 people in America to test this drug long before the FDA approved it so....)Anyway, he was right. Within the last few weeks I've gone from about 165 pounds to 190 pounds! I was really depressed this morning when I found that my 38 inch pants fit better than the 36 inch ones! Oh well, sugar is under control, blood pressure is under control, my faith in God is strong and I want this to work.
My point is not to complain or whine. The above information is just to give you some background on how and why I'm here and what my challenges are at the current time. Being on the road more than 65% of the time is tough enough with diabetes but now that the weight is coming back on (and I'm physically uncomfortable even with this small increase) it's clarly time for me to take some proactive steps and fast. I'm looking for others with similar notions.
I am looking for others who are new to the program and might like to help buddy up so we can encourage each other. If you're willing to be a mentor or just want someone else who is new to compare notes with please feel free to respond to this post. My hat's off to all of you who are committed and making it happen in your lives. I hope I too can find your strength, resolve and tenacity.
Regards,
